What Are Some Ideas For Vacation Training?

When working towards our physical goals, we know that consistency is key. What we also know is that it is summer and that means potentially you have a vacation on the horizon (I do at the end of July and I cannot wait).

Now, before I dive into workout ideas I want you to know that rest and recovery are KEY for our bodies and highly encouraged. That means that should you miss training or decide to not train whilst away, it is ok. Skipping your workouts is not going to damage your progress and you may feel more refreshed than you ever have before. But as we all know, there are a ton of benefits to training that are worth setting aside some time to train while traveling, including more energy and improved mood, plus, squeezing in a quick workout or two during your trip can make it easier to get back in the swing of things after you've unpacked your suitcases.

Below is a short sample of equipment-free and time-sensitive workouts that can be performed on the road. So regardless of if you are at the beach, retreating to the mountains, or in a hustling city, these workouts can be performed.

Vacation Wod 1

AMRAP 16

30 Double Unders

20 Plank Shoulder Taps

10 Jumping Squats

Finished 8 x 30:20 Core Tabata

Vacation Wod 2

For time

Buy In - Run 1 mile

Complete 5 Rounds

10 Burpees

10 Push-Ups

10 Lemon Squeezes

Cash Out - Run 1 Mile

Vacation Wod 3

EMOM 20

Repeat 4 times

Min 1 - Jumping Lunges

Min 2 - Pike toe taps

Min 3 - 1 + ¼ Air Squats

Min 4 - Strict Mountain Climbers

Min 5 - Rest

In addition to the above workouts, always consider dropping into a local Crossfit box, walking/running on the beach, taking a yoga class, or simply setting yourself a goal of walking 10k steps and make the time a family/friends event (unless you want this time for you as vacations can be overwhelming).

The main point is that whatever it is that you chose to do, enjoy it. A vacation should be calming with new memories, not a time to worry about how we didn’t train. If you are off on vacation have an amazing time and should you train, don't forget to take photos and take us!

I will see you at the gym,

Joanna
