Have you ever been interested in getting stronger?
Do you have an interest in improving your technique with barbell movements that regularly show up in class?
Do you ever wonder what those people are doing with those big weights in the back of the gym?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, chances are you are interested in our Weightlifting or Powerlifting specialty classes. At True Core, we offer Weightlifting classes on Monday and Wednesday at 5:45 pm and Saturday at 9:00 am. Powerlifting class is offered on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:45 pm.
Weightlifting class, also known as Olympic Lifting, focuses on the Clean and Jerk and Snatch movements. This class is great for beginner athletes that are interested in learning or improving their technique on either of the lifts. This class runs a little different than most of our regular group classes. Typically, in Weightlifting class athletes will have a predetermined program that Coach Kyle Madden has written for them. Athletes will progress through their program for that day while Coach Kyle provides feedback and technique adjustments. For athletes that are brand new to the class, Coach Kyle will have you start at the most basic first stage of the lifts and guide you through proper progressions to begin your lifting session. This class can be routinely attended and used for preparation for Weightlifting competitions or used supplementally to help improve performance in regular group classes.
Powerlifting class is based around the three competition lifts being the Back Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift with additional accessory exercises to improve these lifts. This class is also a little different than our regular group classes. Coach Sam Bernstein runs our Powerlifting classes and much like Weightlifting class Coach Sam will provide athletes with individualized programming so they may progress through a strength training routine at their own pace. While athletes work through their programming Coach Sam provides pointers on the lifts and adjusts your programming if needed.
Both Weightlifting and Powerlifting classes are a great resource for any level athletes to improve their performance with barbell movements. Give them a try and get a little stronger!
